PL 100--Intro.
In class today, Tuesday 11/29, we finished going over Chapter 5. The assignment for Thursday, 12/1 is to read and be prepared to discuss Chapter 6 of the text.

Pl 205--Legal Research
In class today, Tuesday 11/29, I distributed Memo Research assignments to those who did not already have them. On Thursday, 12/1, we will meet in the Law Library, which is on the 3rd floor of the Penobscot County Courthouse, instead of at Husson. The assignment for Thursday is to read the textbook discussion about Lexis at pp. 237-250.

November 22, 2005

PL 100---Intro.
In class today, Tuesday 11/22, we went over some of the concepts in chapter 5, including personal and subject-matter jurisdiction. I distributed a hand-out of Maine statutes about those concepts. We went over the beginning of the Practice Questions at the end of Chapter 5. On Tuesday, 11/29, we will finish going over Chapter 5. There is no additional homework. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

PL 205---Legal Research
In class today, Tuesday 11/22, we went over the memo assignment at the end of Chapter 17. I distributed inter-office memo assignments. We went over the use of terms and connectors in Westlaw. There is no additional homework. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

PL 100---Intro.
In class today, Thursday 11/17, we went over the memo assignment regarding the various financial schemes. We also continued going over some of the concepts discussed in Chapter 4. The assignment for Tuesday, 11/22 is to read Chapter 5 in the text. Write out to hand in Practice Questions 1-5 from pages 173-174.

PL 205---Research
In class today, Thursday 11/17, we went over the Chapter 13 assignment on counteranalysis. The assignment for Tuesday 11/22 is to read chapters 16 and 17 in the text, and the write up to hand in Assignment 7 on page 509 at the end of chapter 17.

November 15, 2005

PL 100--Intro.
In class today, Tuesday 11/15, we went over the exam, and then started discussing Chapter 4. On Thursday we will continue discussing Chapter 4, and will go over the homework assignment. The assignment for Thursday is to write an interoffice memo regarding the financial questions in the assignment. If you were not in class, please e-mail me if you want that memo assignment.

PL 205---Research
In class today, Tuesday 11/15, we went over the Assignment from the end of Chapter 12. The assignment for Thursday is to read Chapter 13 of the text, and to write up to hand in Assignment 7 on page 403.

November 10, 2005

PL 100---Intro.
In class today, Thursday 11/10, the class took an exam. On Tuesday 11/15 we will go over the exam. The additional assignment for Tuesday is to read Chapter 4 of the textbook, and prepare to discuss the Ethical Questions and Practice Questions at the end of the chapter (no writing assignment.)

PL 205---Legal Research
In class today, Thursday 11/10, we worked on the research assignments, including the Shepardizing or Keyciting. The assignment for Tuesday 11/15 is to read Chapter 12 of the textbook. At the end of the Chapter, do assignment 6, examples 1, 2, and 3, and assignment 7, example 2, (D, E, F, and G). This assignment is to write up and hand in on Tuesday.

PL 100---Intro.
In class today, Tuesday 11/8, we went over the memo regarding contact with the adverse party, and we went over a sample test. On Thursday 11/10 we will have an open book, open note test.

PL 205---Legal Research
In class today, Tuesday 11/8, we went over Keyciting and shepardizing. All future research projects must include your Keyciting or Shepardizing work, in the format laid out in the sample sheets that I handed out.

November 3, 2005

PL 100--Intro.
In class today, Thursday 11/3, we went over the Corey case. I handed out an assignment that asks you to read three Ethics Opinions and then write a memo based on those opinions. The memo is due Tuesday 11/8. If you were not in class, I left an extra copy of the handout in my Husson mailbox in Room 223. Also, we will be having an exam in the class on Thursday 11/10. The exam will be open book and open note.

PL 205--Research
In class today we went over the Chelsea C. case. The assignment for next Tuesday is to read in the textbook chapters 5 and 7, parts of which we have already read. Concentrate in those chapters on the discussion of Shepardizing and KeyCiting, which we will discuss next Tuesday.

PL 100---Intro.
In class today, Tuesday 11/1, we went over the Weinstein brief. The assignment for Thursday is to brief the Maine Supreme Court case of Corey v. Norman, Hansen, and DeTroy, 1999 ME 196. PL 205---Legal Research
In class today, Tuesday 11/1, we went over the Parent case brief. We also continued doing Digest and westlaw research. The assignment for Thursday is to brief the case of in re Chelsea C., 2005 ME 105.
