PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Tuesday 2/28, we went over the Chism, Beaudry, and Stone cases, and I also discussed the Arthur Andersen U.S. Supreme Court case. The assignment for Thursday 3/2 is to review the Akers case at the end of Chapter 5, and to read through page 161 of the textbook.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, Tuesday 2/28. we went over the Campbell v. Martin brief. The assignment for Thursday 3/2 is to read Chapter 6 of the textbook, as well as the Maine statutes regarding parental rights 19-A MRSA §§1501-1658.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Thursday 2/23, we had a quiz. We discussed five Maine cases, as well as the Poplar case. The assignment for Tuesday, February 28 is to finish reading chapter 5.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, Thursday 2/23, we spent most of the class going over the case brief for Jackson v. Weaver. I also went over one other Maine case. The assignment for Tuesday 2/28 is to read the Maine statute on child custody jurisdiction 19-A MRSA §§1731-1783. You can skim most of the law, but pay particular attention to §§1732 and 1745-1748. The rest of the assignment is to do a case brief of Campbell v. Martin, 2002 ME 112.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Tuesday 2/21, we went over the exam. We started our discussion of accomplice liability, and discussed up to p. 121. The assignment for Thursday is to read in the textbook up to p. 136.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, Tuesday 2/21, I handed back the Conover brief. We discussed subject matter jurisdiction and began our discussion of personal jurisdiction, I handed out a photocopy of the Maine long-arm statute, 14 MRSA §704-A. The assignment for Thursday is to brief the case of Jackson v. Weaver, 678 A.2d 1036 (Me, 1996)

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, 2/16, we had exam #1. On Tuesday we will go over the exam, and start into chapter 5. The assignment is to read pp. 115-128 in the text, and 17-A MRSA §57.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, 2/16, we went over the Conover brief, and the grounds for divorce. I handed out photocopies of the statute regarding grounds for divorce, and of Rule 4 of the Maine Rules of Civil Procedure. The assignment for Tuesday is to read Rule 4, and to read chapter 10 of the textbook, including the cases at the end of the chapter. (There is no written homework.)

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, 2/14, we finished going over Chapter 4 of the text. I went over 4 Maine cases as well. On Thursday we will have an open book, open note exam.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, 2/14, we went over the rules of judicial separation. I went over a number of Maine cases. We did paralegal role-playing. The assignment for Thursday is to read the Maine statutes on grounds and procedures for divorce, 19-A MRSA §§901-908. Also I want you to do a case brief of Conover v. Conover, 403 A.2d 352 (Me, 1979).

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, 2/9, we had quiz #3. I handed out three BDN articles. We went over the Barnette, Barnes, and Koppersmith cases. The assignment for next Tuesday is to read the rest of Chapter 4. On Tuesday we will also go over test preparation for the first test, which will be on Thursday 2/16.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, 2/9, we went over the Smith brief. We also went over the PFA Complaint form. We discussed annulment law, and I went over 3 Maine annulment law court cases. The assignment for next Tuesday is to read the Maine statute on judicial separation, 19-A MRSA §§851-852.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today 2/7 we went over possession. I told the class about 2 Maine cases on possession. We went over the start of Chapter 4 on mens rea and the Stark case. The assignment for Thursday is to read up through page 105.

PL 302---Family Law
In class today 2/7 we went over the Smith case. On Thursday we will finish up Protection From Abuse. The assignment for Thursday is to read Chapter 5 of the textbook and to read 19-A MRSA §701 and §§751-753.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today 2/2 we had quiz #2. We went over chapter 3 up to possession. The assignment for Tuesday 2/7 is to review the remainder of chapter 3,beginning with the Porter case on p. 78, and to begin reading chapter 4 (through p. 92) and study the Maine statutes on culpable states of mind, 17-A MRSA §§34-35.

PL 302 Family Law
In class today 2/2 we went over the basics of the Maine Protection from Abuse statute, and compared it to the textbook overview. The assignment for next Tuesday 2/7 is to review the Maine PFA statute and compare the Complaint for PFA and PFA Order forms with the requirements of the statute. Also, do a case brief of the Maine Law Court case of Smith v. Hawthorne, 2002 ME 149 available on the Maine Supreme court opinion site or through westlaw.
