PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Thursday 4/26, we finished chapter 8 and discussed through page 291 of the text. I also discussed four Maine cases regarding entrapment and PTSD, and we looked at additional Maine statutory sections. The assignment for Tuesday May 1 is to read through page 314 of the text.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, Thursday 4/26, we discussed the readings from the handout, and did some legal research. The assignment for Tuesday May 1 is to read the remainder of the handout.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Tuesday 4/24, we went over the text up to Syndromes on page 272. We examined the Maine statutes that parallel the ones discussed in the text, and I also went over three Maine Supreme Court cases. The assignment for Thursday 4/26 is to read through page 291 in the text.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, Tuesday 4/24, we went over a recent ethical lapse by a Maine attorney, and then the proposed Maine Code regarding solicitation. The assignment for Thursday is to review the supplementary materials from p. 325 to the end.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Thursday 4/19, we had Quiz #7. We then discussed the concepts and cases of Chapter 8 up through page 256. I also discussed one U.S. Supreme Court and 3 Maine Supreme Court cases dealing with mental illness. The assignment for Tuesday 4/24 is to finish reading Chapter 8.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, Thursday 4/19, we discussed the concepts of Chapter 9. The assignment for Tuesday 4/24 is to read Chapter 10 and pages 325 to the end of the handout.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Tuesday 4/17, we went over the exam. Then we discussed the sections of the Maine statute regarding force used both by and against police in Maine. I also went over some U.S. Supreme Court cases and Maine cases regarding force used by and against police. The assignment for Thursday 4/19 is to read pages 238-258 of the text, and also sections 38 and 39 of the Maine Criminal Code.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, Tuesday 4/17, we went over the homework assignment. The assignment for Thursday 4/19 is to read Chapter 9 of the text.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Thursday 4/12, we had Exam #2. On Tuesday 4/17, we will go over the exam. and then discuss Maine law regarding resisting arrest. The homework for Tuesday is to read sections 107, 108(1-A), and 110 of the Maine Criminal Code.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, Thursday 4/12, we finished the oral presentations, and then started discussing some examples of the advertising found in Maine. The assignment for Tuesday 4/17 is to write up the 5 homework problems, read the Ethics Opinion that I distributed in class, and also browse through the Bangor Yellow Pages and check compliance with the advertising rules.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Tuesday 4/10, we finished Chapter 7 of the text. I went over 5 more Maine cases regarding the justification defense. On Thursday 4/12 we will have Exam #2.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, Tuesday 4/10, we began the oral presentations, which we will finish on Thursday. The additional assignment for Thursday is to read Chapter 8 of the text, and to read the Maine Bar Rules that correspond to the discussion in the text.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, 4/3, we continued going over the justification rules, both from the textbook and the Maine Criminal Code. I also talked about two Maine Supreme Court cases regarding justification. The assignment for Thursday 4/5 is to finish reading Chapter 7 of the text. We will have Exam #2 next Tuesday 4/10.

PL 499--Legal Ethics
In class today, we went over the concepts of Chapter 7 of the text. The assignment for Thursday 4/5 is to prepare for oral presentations regarding out-of-control lawyers. If you were not in class, I left a copy of the cases to present in my mailbox.
