PL 205--Legal Research
In class today, Thursday 12/13, I collected what I could of the memos. We spent the class period going over concepts for the exam, which we will have on Tuesday 12/18 at 12:50. The exam will be just one class period, 75 minutes.

PL 205-- Legal Research
In class today, Tuesday 12/11, I handed
back the drafts of the memos. We discussed some of the things to look
for as you write the memos. For your Research Notes, you do not need to
follow all the dead ends--just the research paths that were productive.
In terms of Keyciting the cases that you cite in your memo, you need to
make sure that the cases are still good law, but you do not need to
look up any Citing References if you have already found all of the
cases that you need. The memos and their Research Notes are due on
Thursday. Any outstanding Research projects are due on the day of the
final, Tuesday 12/18. On Thursday 12/13, we will have a review for the
final exam.

December 6, 2007

PL 205--Legal Research
In class today, Thursday 12/6, I collected
the drafts of the memo, which I will return with comments next Tuesday.
We also went on an advanced tour of theHusson library, looking at the Digests, ALRs, and various practice aids that Husson has acquired from the Penobscot
County Law Library. I then discussed the status of the memos and the
research questions with each student individually. On Tuesday 12/11, I
will hand back the memo drafts, and we will discuss the writing of
those memos. The memos will be due on Thursday 12/13. I decided,
however,that I will accept the research projects (not the memos) as late as the day of
the final in the class, Tuesday 12/18 (at 12:50). On Thursday 12/13, we
will also go over preparation for the final exam.

December 4, 2007

PL 205--Legal Research
In class today, Tuesday 12/4, I just worked
with students individually to help find materials for the memo. The
draft of that memo is due on Thursday 12/6. If you have not finished
the draft,just plan to hand in as much as you have gotten done. The
idea of the draft is to give me an opprtunity to help you make sure that you have found appropriate law, and are using the correct format in which to write up your research.
