PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Thursday 3/30, we had Quiz #6. We went over the textbook cases through the Peterson case. I also discussed six Maine cases regarding various aspects of self-defense. The assignment for Tuesday 4/4 is to finish reading chapter 7. Once we finish Chapter 7 (hopefully on Tuesday) we will have our second exam (hopefully on Thursday 4/6).

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, Thursday 3/30, I handed back the C.E.W. briefs. I distributed 3 handouts, one blank and one filled in set of the child support worksheets and related materials, and the Maine Child Support Guideline Statutes. We worked through the calculation of child support using those materials. I discussed one Maine case on imputed income, Rich v. Narofsky, 624 A2d 937 (Me. 1993). The homework for Tuesday 4/4 is to do a case brief of Jarvis v. Jarvis, 2003 ME 53.

PL 200 Criminal Law and PL 302 Family Law
I have decided to cancel class for today because I am sick. I have asked the school to post that notice at the school, but hopefully you have read this here before having to go into Husson. There is no additional homework--just review the previously assigned work. I hope to see you on Thursday, but you might want to check in here on Thursday before travelling to school.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, 2/23, we started with a quiz. Then we discussed the three assigned cases from the textbook, and went over the corresponding Maine statutes. The assignment for Tuesday 3/28 is to read through page 217 in the text.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, 2/23, we went over the C.E.W. brief. I discussed a Maine grandparent visitation case, Conloge v. Conlogue, 2006 ME 12, as well as 2 cases that were mentioned in the C.E.W. case, Stitham and Young. We went over the Maine statutes regarding grandparent visitation and defacto guardianship. The assignment for Tuesday 3/28 is to read chapter 7 in the text, and to review §1653 (8) on child support in the Maine statutes.

PL 200---Criminal Law
In class today, Tuesday 3/21 we went over the text regarding impossibility and renunciation, as well as the Maine statutes and one Maine case. The assignment for Thursday March 23 to read through p. 196 of the text.

PL 302--Family Law
In class today, Tuesday 3/21 we went over the three cases at the end of Chapter 6. I distributed some Maine statutory handouts on child custody modification and defacto relationship for guardianship. The assignment for Thursday 3/23 is to brief the case of C.E.W. v. D.E.W. 2004 ME 43, 845 A.2d 1146. The case has a concurring opinion so add a sentence or two describing the point that the concurring Justices make.

PL 200--Criminal Law
In class today, Thursday 3/2, we discussed through the Nesbitt case on p. 158 of the text. I also talked about two Maine cases, and we discussed the applicability of several Maine statutes to the situation of attempted crimes. The homework for Tuesday, March 21, is to read through p. 178 of the text.

Pl 302--Family Law
In class today, Thursday 3/2, we discussed chapter 6 of the text. I also talked about two Maine cases, State v. Butt, 656 A2d 1225 and Rodrigue v. Brewer, 667 A2d 605. I handed out a photocopy of 19-A MRSA §1653. The homework for Tuesday, March 21, is to read and prepare to discuss the 3 cases at the end of Chapter 6 (pp. 245-260).
